AND TRADITION

Result of the wise recovery of the farm of the grandfather left as an inheritance, this great rascard Walser was a stable, a barn, a home and the school of the village Crest, a Walser village dating back to 1600, bears witness to the passage of this Swiss Walser population who, during their commercial and religious migrations, settled on the slopes of Monte Rosa and left traces of their homes particular: the rascards.
The Walser woods and stone are the materials that have been preserved for what is now the Refuge, opened in 1990.
The VieuxCrest has alternated the most varied customers.
Today, it is preferred, in summer, by many hikers who trekking on the trails of Alta Via n1, on the route of the Tor des Géants or on circular tours like the Tour des Six, but also by groups of friends or families who wish to spend a day in the mountains.
During the winter season it is the ideal place for ski lovers: the vast area of ​​Monterosaski, which includes 3 valleys – Ayas Gressoney Alagna – for 160 m of slopes.
The peculiarities of Vieux Crest are the warmth that these walls, steeped in history, experience and tradition, have preserved since antiquity and still transmit to all.
